Qualifications & Approach

I am a qualified Integrative Humanistic Counsellor. Integrative Counselling encompasses different theoretical schools. Which means that I can choose from several approaches to help you overcome your difficulties.

I am a member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and I abide by their ethical framework of good practice.

Approach

There are many different models of counselling. The theoretical framework I use is based on the integrative approach, which is a combination of the following models. I use a range of therapeutic tools and disciplines, depending upon the unique needs of my clients.

Humanistic

The Humanistic approach focusses on the individual as a whole, encouraging them to think about their feelings and take responsibility for their thoughts and actions. Here, the emphasis is on self‑development and achieving your highest potential.

Psychodynamic

The psychodynamic approach recognises and values the connections between a person’s inner and outer experience, and the significance of the past in relation to the present

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a short-term form of behavioural treatment, which helps clients problem‑solve. CBT reveals the relationship between beliefs, thoughts, and feelings, and the behaviours that follow.

Transactional Analysis Therapy

Transactional Analysis is used to address an individual’s interactions and communications with the purpose of establishing and reinforcing the idea that each individual is valuable and has the capacity for positive change and personal growth.
