Why Counselling?

Counselling offers a range of talking therapies, delivered by trained practitioners who work with people over a short or long‑term period, to help bring about positive change or enhance their well‑being.

Loneliness, bereavement, relationship issues, addiction, low self‑esteem, financial, health and social issues are all factors that adversely affect a person's sense of well‑being and could eventually lead a breakdown or burnout.

The good news is that within every human being is the capacity for healing, acceptance, growth and change. Everyone has the right to be content, and counselling can help by simply providing you with an opportunity to talk, free from criticism or judgement. This will allow you to connect with your own emotions and explore any difficulties you are experiencing. This way, you can begin to heal and grow.

You may want a supportive space where you can discuss difficulties, share feelings and examine possible ways forward or even look more deeply at your past, present or future. Through counselling I will facilitate a therapeutic relationship where healing and emotional shifts can occur. A problem shared is a problem solved.

Through engaging in therapy, you may develop and gain:

  • Stronger awareness of self and greater self‑acceptance

  • More meaningful relationships with yourself and others

  • Peace of mind and emotional stability

  • Confidence to face difficulties and trust in your own experience

  • Coping strategies to overcome situations associated with depression, tragedy or stress

  • Courage to deal with anger and conflict, through the release of suppressed emotions

  • The ability to understand, process and work through life’s challenges

  • The capability to achieve more meaning and purpose in life

Counselling is not:

  • A quick fix

  • Free from difficulty

  • Just for people who think they're 'messed up'

  • A place to be judged or criticised
